One of Tuscany’s most famous sons regularly sings in the theatre close to his birthplace:
Andrea Bocelli sings in Lajatico, a small town near Pisa.
The famous tenor was born in Lajatico, a town of just 1,500 people which is about 30 miles southwest of Florence and 25 miles southeast of Pisa. And in August he’ll sing in his hometown twice, at the "Teatro del Silenzio", an open air theatre built in his hometown.
This article was first published in 2015 and he has continued to regularly perform in his home-town theatre. In 2018 Andrea Bocelli performed twice, on July 28 and July 30, an opera, the Andrea Chénier by Umberto Giordano, the first opera that Bocelli ever learned.
