It is often believed that Pinocchio was created by Disney, when in fact, it is the creation of a Tuscan writer called Carlo Collodi. Collodi released the Adventures of Pinocchio in 1883, and the tale has since been adapted into many different languages.
The village where Carlo Collodi lived and grew up is now named Collodi in his honour, and it is home to the Parco di Pinocchio. This is more of an educational park, with literary activities and exhibitions of art and illustrations on show. As you would expect, there are puppet making workshops to take part in, with the park being home to gardens and a butterfly house. All of this is set in beautiful greenery, and makes a great day out for an educational trip. More information can be found on the Pinocchio Park Website.
