A deconsecrated chapel dating from 1733 next to “Romagnola” (Ref. #269) on the large farming estate, Cappellina has now been converted into a delightful little house for two. The Estate, which covers five hectares of panoramic countryside, has been in the same family for over 400 years, and the charming owner is helpful and very knowledgeable about the area.
Cappellina has its own dining pergola and outside space, sharing the main garden and swimming pool with Romagnola. The main body of the chapel with its double height ceiling has been left untouched and is used as a charming sitting/dining room, furnished with antiques and local artifacts. The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom have been built into the apse, with a precision reminiscent of a sailing boat. The double bed is on a mezzanine floor, reached by a narrow staircase, tucked under the apse roof. The kitchen and bathroom are built in underneath, hidden behind wooden panelled fronts.
Cappellina is a charming conversion, a privileged hideaway, despite sharing the pool and main garden. Emilia Romagna is the region of good cooking: Tortellini, Parma ham, Parmesan cheese, Bolognese ragù, ravioli are all from this area. Tredozio itself, the small town at the foot of the hill, boasts a Michelin starred restaurant whose chef will come and cook for you in La Collina – a gourmet’s dream. Tredozio also hosts concerts during the summer ranging from Jazz to Chamber music, and has tennis courts, shops and restaurants.
