This property rents Saturday to Saturday from beginning of June to the end of September. Other arrival days can be arranged outside of this period.
On a historic estate near Todi, the owner has converted some of his old farmhouses and equipped them with pools. This is a small, charming Villa for 4 which would also be good as a honeymoon spot for two, tucked away in the Umbrian hills yet still close enough to Todi and Orvieto for some great exploring.
The main entry to the house is from the furnished patio, shaded by a vine-draped pergola and ideal for meals al fresco. A wide door leads into a living / dining room with a dining table for 6 and sofas set facing a stone-clad open fireplace. Adjacent to the dining area is an attractive galley kitchen dressed in brick, tiles and warm woodwork. Two ensuite bedrooms, a double and a twin, are accessed off the living room, each with its own access to the surrounding lawn. To take advantage of the best possible view, an additional flagstone patio is located on the hill rising behind the house. The patio includes a pergola with a table for 4, sun beds and an above-ground pool suitable more for refreshing meditation than exercise.
As this lovely house is on a fenced estate you can safely bring pets, and explore the surrounding woods and meadows on wonderful walks. Once you venture off the estate, however, there are many interesting outings available. Todi and Orvieto were on the important trade and pilgrim routes towards Rome. As a consequence, this area excels in important sculpture, architecture and paintings, including of course Orvieto's wonderful cathedral, whose facade, like a triptych with the dazzling Technicolor hues of its mosaics and richly beautiful sculptural detail, has earned it the nickname of the "Golden Lily of Cathedrals". This area is famous for its food and wine, and one of Italy's most famous, (and most expensive) restaurants, Vissani, is very near by, at Baschi on Lake Corbara. There are masses of excellent restaurants everywhere and numerous wine cellars where you can try Orvieto's excellent wines and eat in the outdoor estate restaurant. Even better, you can arrange for an excellent cook to come to the house.
A wonderful place to stay and indulge yourself in a surfeit of views, art, food, wine and, above all, peace, the farmhouse is a perfect foundation for a memorable holiday.
