This beautifully restored Tuscan home is a haven of elegant luxury set in its own terraced gardens, with a hot-tub and a pool looking out over wonderful views of the Apuan mountains. The well-travelled owner has beautiful taste; her interest in Moroccan and East-African furnishings adds warmth and colour to this beautiful old Tuscan building and make it a very special place to stay. Within several acres of terraced gardens, the private pool and deck are perfectly placed for sunbathing with uninterrupted views of the valley and mountains. By the house, a large south-facing terrace is shaded by a pergola, an ideal spot to enjoy the views with a glass of the local wine, and as the sun sets perhaps even use the original antique outdoor pizza-oven to make the experience utterly italian.
A private drive leads up to a parking spot below the house. The house has a well-equipped and beautiful kitchen, a large dining room and a sitting room with an open fireplace. Both the sitting room and the dining room open out onto the south-facing terrace. Upstairs there is a master double with ensuite bathroom, a further double also with ensuite bathroom and a single room, also used as a dressing room for smaller groups.
Set in a little known area of Tuscany, this is a special place to discover. The mountains that you can admire from the house and gardens rise up to nearly 6000 feet, or just under 2000 metres and are part of the Apuan Alps, the marble mountains from which the Tuscans took the pure white marble from which michelangelo carved his David. Villages dot the slopes of the mountains and are wonderful places to explore, often with excellent restaurants, ancient castles and local markets. Better know delights are a short distance away, like the Cinque Terre with fabulous seafood restaurants, the glitzy beaches of Viareggio, the churches and antique fairs of Lucca, Pisa's famous leaning tower and of course Florence and Siena.
Heating the Jacuzzi has a charge - this varies depending on the season, please enquire.
Casa Luni provides your own personal eagle’s nest away from any bussle to relax, recharge, read and contemplate the wonderful view of the mountains. Not much has changed here since Eric Newby wrote Love and War in the Appenines, Once recharged you can make trips down to the coast for culture, shopping, Chubbys (Cicchio) famous seafood shack and more. It’s rare to find somewhere so spacious for a couple or small family with a wonderfully equipped kitchen, huge living room and bedroom windows which open in the morning onto that mountain view with the sun rising. The local town Fivizzano provides fresh local produce, take away homemade ice cream and a sunny piazza for morning cappuchino. The local places to eat (as recommended by the owner) are quality home cooking food -nothing too complicated and no pressure to eat loads of courses. The local Nocchino (walnut digestive) will dull all remaining senses of work, covid and anything else worrying you. Enjoy…but if you want to meet new people by the pool or your children need a disco try again!
