This Four Bedroom Villa in Chianti, Tuscany, close to Barberino and set on a famous Chianti wine estate has a beautiful large swimming pool, excellent al-fresco dining areas and large barbecue. When the owner of La Dimora set out to modernize this house on an organic 300 hectare farm in the woodlands and olive groves of the Chianti, he decided to respect the Nature surrounding his doorstep, and by collecting both sun and rain now manages to conserve energy with no sacrifice to comfort. In this sprawling ground-level house, whose every room opens onto the outside, you will never doubt that you are in the heart of Tuscany. Terracotta bricks and chestnut ceiling beams mix well with stylish colors and attractive fabrics of modern Italy and from every window there is the classic panorama of an ancient countryside.
Just past the tiled threshing floor, whose low wall now outlines a spacious covered furnished patio, the corner entry leads you to most of the rooms of the house. To the left is a hallway leading to a bathroom, a shower room and two front bedrooms, a twin and a double, whose arched French doors lead out to the patio. To the right of the entryway is the large sitting room, whose comfortable sofas, fireplace, filled bookshelves, and TV and CD/Stereo make it a natural place to gather. The sitting room opens to beautiful views off the furnished back terrace and quite handily to the excellently equipped kitchen, with a dining table for 12. A short hallway off the sitting room leads to a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with extra shower and a twin bedroom, with ensuite shower room. Both of these rooms have doors to the side garden and the swimming pool beyond. Quite cleverly tucked below the horizon and to the back of the house is a large laundry room.
The design of the house and its gardens ensure that one can easily find a quiet space, be it on one of the furnished terraces, under the natural shade looking onto the swimming pool or in the Jacuzzi itself, or near the barbecue when outdoor dining is the plan for the evening. Yet this house is excellently located and a short drive will bring you to good restaurants, ancient churches, and easy access to roads to leading to medieval and renaissance towns that make this region famous.
Caro Guido, another wonderful week in Dimora, our second year. We will definitely be back next year and the next and the next!
Dimora was perfect and exactly what we wanted for our objective ie a family get together across 3 generations. The unseasonal inconsistency of the weather simply didn’t matter.
The location, peacefulness and outlook across the valley were truly memorable. The property was ideal for our number (10 including 2 small children). Big enough for grumpy old men like me to find pockets of peace and quiet when required, but also splendid communal areas both inside and outside for everyone. We didn’t want a ‘pristine sterile villa’ but somewhere a little more rustic and that objective was completely achieved.
The arrangements for provision of the special meal by Pieranna and Valentina worked like clockwork. The weather was kind, the food was magnificent and, despite our language barrier, Pieranna was an utter delight.
Such a superb villa and very beautiful spot. Many small and large towns to enjoy visiting in the surrounding areas, particularly Certaldo. The fresh vegetables on offer are amazing and the food generally is 5 star. Thank you.
Dimora is perfect for exploring Tuscany. The villa is great for larger parties - There were 10 of us and we never felt cramped. Indoor and outdoor seating for 10, a wonderful BBQ and well-equipped kitchen made for easy self-catering. There are lots of good restaurants a short drive away. The pool is amazing and being in the middle of a working wine and olive oil estate was a treat. Florence, Siena, Lucca and San Gimignano are within easy reach. It was very hot when we visited in August so we did our sight seeing in the early mornings to avoid crowds, parking stress and the heat of the day, before retiring to the cool of the pool. Invitation to Tuscany have been a professional company to deal with and their personal touch has been much appreciated. We would all whole-heartedly recommend Dimora and will certainly use Invitation to Tuscany for our next Tuscan adventure.
Dimora exceeded our expectations in every way. It is beautifully situated in the heart of the Tuscan hills, peaceful and quiet with glorious views. The house cannot be faulted – the bedrooms are all spacious and comfortable with en-suite bathrooms, the kitchen extremely well-equipped, and all rooms lead directly on to the garden surrounded by olive trees. The large infinity pool has a small jacuzzi pool at one end which is perfect for young children. The whole place has an air of tranquillity, is very eco-friendly, and is ideal for friends or families, as there is plenty of opportunity to be together or find your own individual space. It is within easy reach of Siena, Florence, San Giminiano, Volterra, and Col di Val d’Elsa, and 5 mins drive from Barberino (where you can still get the BEST pizzas in Tuscany!) Invitation to Tuscany could not have been more helpful in every way, and the Welcome Pack awaiting us was a generous and much appreciated gesture. We had a wonderful cook who came and provided the most delicious meals for us at home, though there are several excellent restaurants within easy reach by car. We were extremely well looked after throughout our stay, and Guido our host kindly gave us a personal tour of his olive presses and cellars. We cannot recommend Dimora highly enough, and will always retain happy memories of a really lovely place.
