A cozy apartment right in the middle of wine country, this would be a great place for a relaxed family holiday - but it also seems ideal as an out-of-season base for exploring the area, to hide away with a loved one - or even to finish writing that book. It has a wide south-facing terrace that means you can eat outside year-round, and views over toward Lecchi and Siena that go on for ever. There is a shared pool close by set among the old dry stoned olive grove terraces, and the house itself has a garden with plenty of space to sit around.
The entrance opens to a short flight of stairs going up to a luminous living room and kitchen, with french windows leading out onto a full width south-facing terrace. A fireplace in the centre of the room provides the promise of winter warmth in this comfortable apartment. On the left of the room as you enter there are armchairs facing a TV, as well as a dining area. A door close by leads to a double bedroom which also has access to the sun-terrace. The kitchen is well-equipped, with a wide range of crockery, a dishwasher as well as a microwave oven underneath the hob.
Going back down the stairs, a shower-room and a utility room flank the entrance door. On the ground floor there are double and twin bedrooms, with an en-suite shower-room for the double. Both look out onto a covered loggia and then the garden which, like the terrace above enjoys long-ranging views towards Lecchi, and Siena - if you're standing up. When you sink into your deckchair you are surrounded by olive trees with the blue sky above.
Close to the flat there is a shared swimming pool, kinked in order to carefully slot into the natural shape of the age-old stone terracing, with plenty of places to sit and enjoy the views and the breeze. Below the house there is a covered garage area with a locked entrance, for those who might like to bring a special car - or simply leave it out of the sun. Please note that the property is down a typical Tuscan 'white road' or dusty track, so Ferraris will not fare well.
You are in the centre of wine country, surrounded by famous Chianti wineries - so in the perfect positiuon for wine tasting and visiting wineries. Castello di Ama is a walk away, Castello di Brolio a short drive and many more within the area. It is also excellent walking and cycling country; you'll need good legs but the many restaurants can serve as enticement and reward for all the hard work.
Siena is close by, with the Piazza del Campo, Pinacoteca, the Cathedral and the wonderful museum of Santa Maria della Scala. A little further south and you're in the val d'Orcia, where you can visit old Roma thermal baths like Bagno Vignoni, famous wine towns like Montalcino, or beautiful medieval monasteries like the Abbazia di Monte Oliveto Maggiore.
