This beautiful, contemporary villa is set in 3,000 sq meters of landscaped garden with shady pine and oak woodlands and panoramic southern views of the Luberon Mountains. A delightfully peaceful location yet within 1 km. walking distance to the centre of sleepy, unspoilt Cabrieres D’Avignon, a mediaeval village of honey-coloured stone walls and narrow streets. Nearby is Napoleon’s famous ‘Cedar forest’ with boules pitches, fitness and botanic trails, an enticing place for walks and to enjoy nature.
Though its roof and tiling is traditional Provencal in style, inside, the contemporary design provides bright spacious living quarters, with high elegant wooden beams. While the entrance hall opens on to a stairway and mezzanine above containing two first floor bedrooms, most of the accommodation is on the ground floor. This includes a large reception area overlooking the swimming pool and grounds, a small storage room and an adjacent WC. To the left of the hallway is a large well-equipped kitchen/dining area, with scullery at the back, which includes a washing machine and a second sink. Glass patio doors open from the kitchen onto a furnished terrace facing the pool and garden. Similar views are enjoyed from the spacious living room, also offering a fireplace, comfortable seating and magnificent views of the Luberon hills.
On the ground floor, there is a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom, whose French windows open onto the main dining area terrace overlooking the pool and the park, with views of the countryside. Two further bedrooms are on the first floor - a master bedroom with French windows onto a private panoramic terrace and a dressing leading to a large bathroom that is shared by those in the twin bedroom also opening onto the terrace.
Outdoors, the pool has a spacious relaxation area, with a stone fountain, ornamental mosaic basin, teak sun loungers and tables bring comfort and taste for those wishing to spend a restful day by the pool. Both pool and terrace are suitably lit to enable guests to continue to enjoy the evening and star-filled Provencal nights outside. A practical touch provides guests with their own pool-side barbecue and external shower.
Cabrieres d'Avignon is a sleepy Provencal village with traditional houses, its stone 'lavoir' wash houses and a 14th Century castle. The village caters for everyday needs with shops, restaurants, a cafe and a vegetable market every Monday morning. Ideally located close to the renowned Luberon villages, this quiet and peaceful holiday home also allows visitors to reconnect with nature. In Napoleon's Cedar Forest nearby walkers can follow a 5 km trail through the trees to Gordes, a striking village standing at the edge of a plateau whose houses, church and fortified castle look out to the hills of the Luberon. The neighboring 'Village des Bories' is a fascinating open-air museum and a testament to what can happen when a royal edict demands the fields cleared of stones, while a visit to the 12th century Abbey of Senanque in the valley below Gordes finds Cistercian monks still producing the honey, lavender and liqueurs that have long brought visitors to their door. Also close by is the medieval town of L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, built on islands of five branches of the Sorgue river and well-known as a haven for antique seekers.
