Roseto is a 13th century farmhouse with a small tower and a barn, in the middle of the Chianti Classico area, mid-way between Florence and Siena. On a hill in 15 hectares of its own fenced land, there are beautiful panoramic views of vineyards and olive groves with forest clad hills in the background. Lovingly restored as the home of the present owner's mother, this is very much a family home, tastefully decorated and furnished with family antiques. There are several shaded patios outside, one near the stone barbeque overlooking the beautiful pool whose infinity edge emphasises the stunning views.
On the upper floor, accessed by an external staircase, you enter a sitting room off which are two double bedrooms and a bathroom. Next to the sitting room are two further sitting rooms off which are a two double bedrooms, one with a bathroom, the other with a shower room. Through an archway from the sitting room is a large well-equipped kitchen. An open tread wooden staircase from the midle sitting room leads to the tower with a twin bedroom and a shower room ensuite. On the lower level of the large farmhouse, reached only via an external entrance, are a double bedroom with a large bathroom with shower, a dining room, another kitchen with open fireplace and a large sitting room with fireplace. About 20 metres from the main house, across the ancient threshing floor, is a large converted barn with a 50sq m. living room. This can be rented as Roseto for 14, ref. number 238
There are ample, well furnished places for eating and sunbathing, both around the house and around the swimming pool. The local village of Panzano was important during the schisms between Florence and Siena, and is now noted for it wines, olive oil, and its famous butcher. The multi-lingual custodians not only look after the house and grounds, but will provide extra cleaning and cooking and organise tours, taxis and many other useful extras to make your holiday extra special.
I'd like to thank Invitation to Tuscany and the owner of Roseto for such a lovely time. Stephanie, the caretaker, was very helpful and the complementary arrival meal was the icing on the cake. We went on to having other catered meals and all of them were delicious. In fact it was cheaper to have the chef come and cook for us all than for everybody to go out and it felt much more decadent!
