  • Set high above olive groves and vineyards, Villa Da Vinci is situated in the heart of a wide park overlooking the castle of Vinci and at a few steps from the small house where the genius Leonardo was born. The large golden villa with its striking arched portico faces a wide welcoming piazza that leads naturally to the large garden that wraps around the side and back of the villa. Here, there are wide green lawns and a furnished pergola where the family can gather for an evening meal or parents can enjoy a glass of wine while watching the children busy at the nearby playground. From the piazza, steps lead down to a large swimming pool whose stunning view of the landscape and the village of Vinci below will cause you to catch your breath. The generous area around the pool has sunbeds and umbrellas and is suitable for dinners al fresco or festive celebrations.

From the entry hall are doors to a large living area, with comfortable sofas facing a valley vista at one end and a table and fireplace with elegant pietra serena mantle at the other; both are excellent places for guests to gather and enjoy the day's discoveries. A bright dining room with a table for 12 is next to a large well-equipped kitchen with access to the back door leading to the garden. Also on this floor is an extra WC. A stone staircase leads to the first floor, whose beautiful wood lacunar ceiling stretches over the long hallway. Of the bedrooms, all of which have large windows with pleasant views, there are two double bedrooms with king-size beds, one with ensuite shower room, the other with ensuite bathroom with tub only. The other two bedrooms, a double and a twin, share a shower room and all bath and shower rooms are generously dressed in marble. The final rooms on this floor are a handy laundry room and a large sitting room where one can relax and read a book, listen to music or watch TV, all under a beautiful XXVII century ceramic ceiling.

The rental of this property for 10 guests also includes the use of the guest cottage off the front piazza. A small fully equipped kitchen, a shower room, a comfortable double bed and a single sofa bed are all part of the simple wooden furnishings in this bright air conditioned apartment, whose large windows overlook the swimming pool and the breathtaking view of the castle of Vinci.

    Local area

In addition to the beautiful and spacious villa itself, we were delighted by the friendly, discreet and constantly helpful support provided by Antonella. In addition, the cook you recommended (Marina) was charming, enthusiastic, and (not incidentally) an excellent cook.

The surroundings are a delight, and the position of the villa gave us the opportunity to explore a part of Italy with which we were only somewhat familiar. We look forward to seeing more on our next visit.

The only negative point is that the kitchen could have done with a few more knives, forks, spoons, etc. But this pales by comparison to all of the good points we enjoyed.

Villa da Vinci was perfect. Set in the hills with stunning views , and an idyllic pool. The situation was ideal with a 10 min walk into the small town of Vinci with a bakery, butcher, small Co-op, newsagents, pizzeria, coffee shops and a gelateria. The Vinci museum was fascinating and we all loved it.
The house itself was restored mid 16 th century and stayed wonderfully cool if you closed the shutters around 10.30 am. The little cottage had AC which was perfect as it tended to get hotter due to large windows.
Can’t say enough about Antonella and Sonia who were amazing. They went out of their way to help us and make our stay perfect but at the same time were in no way intrusive. Big thank you to them both for everything they did.
Thank you once again Invitation to Tuscany for finding us the perfect Villa for our special family holiday of 10 .

Thanks for your help in finding Villa da Vinci. We absolutely loved it! The villa was perfectly located to drive to Lucca, Siena or to catch the train from Empoli to Florence and Venice. We loved being able to easily walk to the town of Vinci. There are also wonderful hikes if you walk up the hill past the birthplace of Leonardo. (we loved that and the museum in town). It was so lovely to gather by the pool after a warm day of touring. We had Marta and her mother make dinner two nights and they were both absolutely perfect! Antonella was a gracious and charming host with many suggestions for restaurants nearby.
I can’t say enough good things about it. It was the perfect getaway for our family.

We stayed in Villa da Vinci and loved it! Three generations of our family vacationed together, and it was a perfect destination. The Villa is large, airy and spacious. The setting is stunning, up on a hill among olive groves, with a beautiful view of Vinci in the distance. The gardens are extensive and provide ample places to rest, dine, and relax and enjoy the view. The pool is amazing, the kids swam in it every day for hours. It's not heated, but in the summer heat that wasn't an issue. The town is walking distance, easily accessible for younger generations, especially since it is all downhill on the way there (the walk back is rather steep, but manageable). On site the caretakers were highly responsive and very helpful. Sonia in particular went out of her way to accommodate us. The company was also responsive and helpful on so many fronts (a special thank you to Lyn!). Overall, I would highly recommend the Villa and the company!

We have just had one of the best holidays ever, all the family together for a whole week in one lovely, lovely house, it was just great. Marta and her Mum gave us a wonderful meal served beautifully, the flavours hit the spot with everyone. Great menu. Antonella was so nice and helpful, sorted anything out when required but didn't bother us, we only saw her on the day we arrived and the day we left, all communication was done via text. Lovely girl as was her cousin. So, all in all a great holiday with great memories, it's one lovely house with beautiful views. I could go back there every year.

We loved our stay so much last year we just had to return! This year the olive trees were laden, the valley emerald green and the last grapes had been plucked from the vines - everything was beautiful. We explored Empoli and found a wonderful restaurant as well as some great shops. Laura said she had one of the best pizzas she had eaten in years at the local pizzeria up the hill from the villa, (coming from an Italian, that is praise indeed!). We enjoyed the spacious elegant rooms, superb views and the wonderful hospitality of Antonella, the owner. We felt very privileged to stay in this very special house and even more sad when it was time to leave.

What an impressive property with wonderful views! We walked into Vinci every night for dinner, where there are great bars, restaurants and local shops, and the English-speaking owner is so knowledgeable about the area. This gorgeous house offers decadence and tranquility in a quiet spot away from it all, yet with the convenience of a pretty little village a short walk away.
