Travelling to Puglia
Puglia is the region of Italy that looks like the heel of Italy's boot, a long thin region stretching east towards Greece and Corfu. You can reach Puglia by plane, train, bus and car - or even by ferry if you wish.
Flying to Puglia
There are two international airports within Puglia: Bari and Brindisi. They are run by Aeroporti di Puglia and are both modern airports, with good facilities and services. Bari Airport is the larger of the two, with more international flights than Brindisi Airport. Brindisi is further south and is a better option if you're planning on visiting the Salento.
Airport | Code | Address | Airport Website |
---|---|---|---|
Bari | BRI | Viale Enzo Ferrari, 70128 Bari BA, Italy | BRI Website |
Brindisi | BDS | Contrada Baroncino, 72100 Brindisi BR, Italy | BDS Website |
How to get to Puglia by train
You can reach Puglia by train from the UK, it will take around 24 hours, and often longer, so it's a trip to be enjoyed as part of the holiday itself. The basic principles are in this article: London to Italy by Train - however the article was written with Tuscany in mind and reaching Puglia requires a few hours more travel.

This would be an exhausting journey! Stop off in Zurich, or in Milan, both beautiful cities, and enjoy a good meal and decent night's sleep before carrying on the next day.
For example, if you spent the night in Milan, you could then leave a 10:20 train and reach Brindisi by 18:24 in time for an evening meal.

As always, Trainline is an excellent resource and you can also book your tickets directly on the app.
